The Brussels-born jeweller Claude Wesel’s creations range from veritable small sculptures to unusual pendant or brooch settings for precious stones.
On completing his jewellery design course at the La Cambre College of Art in 1963, he was immediately hired by the Demanet firm, who gave him a very free rein as a designer. He set up his own workshop and company in 1969, and developed a personal style characterised by “tiny engines” within a structured, almost mechanical world.
Today, Claude Wesel works with precious metals, precious stones, cut diamonds and pearls, which are combined with other metals, rubber, glass paste, steel and plexiglass in his own signature combinations that express his creativity.
