In 2008, Olivier Strelli celebrates the 30th anniversary of the founding of his fashion house. Born in the Belgian Congo and “fed” on African flavours, colours, scents and sounds, this “artisan of the world” (as he often refers to himself) launched his own range of simple shirts in 1975, produced in the fresh bright colours of that decade by a team of five in a tiny workshop in Brussels. They were a huge success and he was inundated with orders: since then his collections have grown larger and more diverse each season.
He has developed and consolidated his own personal style and has left his footprint on the fashion world. His genius for blending colours and textures is widely recognised, and today he is one of Belgium’s leading designers, especially of up-market, ready-to-wear clothes for men and women.
His clients range from Queen Paola of the Belgians to the Rolling Stones, to the French national football team, and include many show-biz, political and sports celebrities.
